PRN Ultrasound Technologist

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing all diagnostic procedures related to Ultrasound. The role provides clinical services according to radiology and imaging practice standards, using all ultrasound equipment while performing all protocols and procedures. The technologist demonstrates technical proficiency, producing high quality exams within an appropriate time frame. They also deliver educational presentations to physicians and technical staff. Responsibilities Perform complex diagnostic ultrasound, producing high‑quality images of internal organs. Monitor patient vital signs and medical equipment during procedures. Review physician orders and confirm the appropriate examination and diagnostic results. Maintain proficient knowledge of PACS. Communicate effectively with patients to obtain history, informed consent and explain procedures, reassuring them to ensure cooperation. Maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition; inspect suite and equipment daily for hazards and troubleshoot malfunctions. Perform quality control checks and maintain sterile technique per hospital policy. Accurately record required information on requisitions, perform clerical duties, and verify data entry in PACS/RIS. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent (including US Armed Forces training). Experience and education combination suitable for the position. Licenses & Certifications Basic Life Support Health Care Provider – American Heart Association (Required). American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (SDMS), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Registered (Required). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of medical laboratory testing techniques. Knowledge of standard phlebotomy, skin puncture techniques, and blood processing procedures. Ability to perform routine laboratory tests and documentation. Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to follow clinical protocols. Reporting Relationships This position does not formally supervise employees. Physical Demands Heavy physical requirements: occasionally lift 50‑100 lbs; frequently 10‑50 lbs; occasionally 0‑10 lbs; frequent pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, and use of keyboard.
