Physical Therapist, Outpatient (South Bay)

Position Summary Reporting to the Rehabilitation Therapies Supervisor/Manager, the Staff Physical Therapist conducts comprehensive assessments of in and outpatients with physical and functional deficits, plans and implements individual and group physical therapy treatments to promote mobility, reduce pain, restore function, prevent permanent disability and promote independence using various treatment techniques. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to arrange for appropriate follow‑up care and facilitates successful return to home and work environments. Provides student training according to departmental guidelines and participates in continuous education. Job Responsibilities Conduct physical therapy evaluation procedures according to professional and departmental guidelines, respond to all consults within 24 hours, complete evaluation and documentation within 24 hours of consult, select evaluation procedures based on diagnosis, assess patient, administer evaluation procedures, interpret results, make recommendations, perform re‑evaluations. Establish treatment goals and plans reflecting patient needs and meeting reimbursement requirements, formulate goals, assess discharge needs, communicate with team, arrange follow‑up. Implement comprehensive individual and group treatment, demonstrate clinical competence, prioritize treatment, use creative approaches, progress and terminate programs as warranted, recommend assistive devices, instruct patient and caregiver, maintain therapeutic relationships, adhere to precautions, supervise PT Assistants and Aides, monitor supplies. Comply with departmental, institutional, and accreditation policies, complete documentation accurately and timely, issue supplies cost‑effectively, meet productivity standards, participate in peer review, complete mandatory requirements. Show evidence of ongoing professional growth, attend continuing education, stay current with regulations and standards, supervise assistants and Aides according to State Practice Act. Participate in development and evaluation of physical therapy programs, contribute to unit files and resource materials, assist in quality improvement projects. Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals, serve as clinical resource, support team members, attend mandatory meetings, provide evidence‑based in‑services. Orient medical staff and community to physical therapy and supervise students, provide training, schedule meetings, evaluate student performance. Align with hospital values and mission. Follow infection control and safety procedures. Job Requirements Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution. Licensure: Current Commonwealth of Massachusetts license, BLS/CPR certification, APTA membership preferred, MCAPTA membership preferred. Experience: New graduates welcome; experienced therapists encouraged. Knowledge & Skills: Interpersonal skills, analytical abilities, ability to evaluate patient condition and develop treatment programs, knowledge of regulations and standards. Compensation & Benefits Compensation range: $37.50–$54.33 per hour.
