Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will be scheduled primarily in the Children's unit but may float to the NICU as needed.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 7
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2-3
• Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:
  • Routine pediatric stable medical-surgical patients, ages 0-18 years
  • Intermediate pediatric care
  • ICU feeder-grower overflow (surgical, orthopedic, appendicitis, gastrointestinal, motor vehicle accidents)
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Diabetes management
  • Seizures
  • Failure to thrive
  • Jaundice (bili babies)

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of pediatric/medical-surgical nursing experience; PICU experience preferred
• Ability to titrate drips; experience with titratable and/or set rate drips such as Tylenol, Keppra, and Insulin (Insulin experience is preferred but not required)

Work Environment

• Pediatrician available in-house 24/7 (on-call at night)
• Respiratory therapy services available on-site 24/7
• Remote telemetry monitoring with no need for nurses to read and interpret strips
• A close-knit, themed unit with an aquarium room, play rooms, and a toy store atmosphere
• Collaboration with a small team, typically consisting of two nurses per shift

Shifts and Scheduling

• Typical shifts: Days 7a-7p, Nights 7p-7a, or rotating day/night shifts
• Self-scheduling based on seniority; block scheduling may be considered
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or every third weekend
• Holiday requirement: 2 holidays per year

Orientation and Training

• Two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided
• Additional support may be provided in high census situations with the assistance of patient care technicians
