CABVI is seeking a Senior Accountant to provide support to the Controller and for various Business Office accounting activities with responsibility for recording, processing, reviewing, updating, reconciling, and analyzing accounting information in compliance with established policies and procedures including GAAP and FASB.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Prepare various monthly journal entries with appropriate backup for entry into software for completing monthly financial statements.
• Set up, maintain and print monthly statements as requested. Set up and maintain other spreadsheets used to balance the statements as needed.
• Perform general ledger maintenance in software and supporting Excel spreadsheets.
• Complete month end processing in software.
• Lead the month end closing tasks for prompt completion to get statements out timely and efficiently.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations for numerous accounts.
• Complete and submit specialized reports and filings.
• Maintain, perform and/or review various monthly/quarterly general ledger account reconciliations. Research and correct general ledger discrepancies to ensure financial statement accuracy.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
• Ensure appropriate checks and balances are in place by reviewing team members’ work performed and completing appropriate checklists. Promote and maintain a strong internal controls environment.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and internal controls for the Business Office. Assist and review work instructions developed by staff to ensure completion and clear directives.
• Take initiative and ownership of various accounting projects and process improvement efforts. Work with and build a good rapport with others outside of the department to achieve successful completion of projects and foster future engagements.
• Create and maintain reports used by Management in software data reporting dashboard.
• Review, reconcile and ensure that inventory records coincide with physical counts. Create and maintain work instructions to accurately perform reconciliations and balance inventory accounts, the receiving accrual account, and received but not invoiced reports.
• Assist with compiling annual budget information for entry into software. Contribute to the development and maintenance of budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Assist with training new staff as applicable and provide support to the Business Office team as a whole.
• Assist with annual audit and various filings.
• Provide backup for other accounting duties.
• Provide backup for Business Office Manager as needed.
• Become familiar with all functions of accounting at CABVI.
• Adapt to change and completes all other duties/reports as assigned.
• Consistently achieves annual performance objectives.
• Effectively communicate with employees and maintain a positive working relationship when addressing problems and coming up with solutions. Work as part of the team to improve processes, efficiencies, communication, and promote resolutions so the agency can pursue its mission.

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

• Bachelor of Science degree in accounting required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in various aspects of accounting required.
• Not for profit experience and supervisory experience preferred.
• Must have ability to respond effectively to a variety of customer service demands.
• Must have ability to effectively communicate and obtain information from staff.
• Must have experience with databases, spreadsheets and word processing
• Must have excellent statistical and mathematical skills.
• Must understand financial statements and have experience with inventory tracking.
• Must have working knowledge of and experience with general ledger accounts and more intermediate topics such as accounting processes, the measurement and report of assets, liabilities and equity, budgeting, account analysis and accrual-based accounting.
• Must have the ability to take on new tasks with high levels of difficulty and minimum supervision.

Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
