Position Overview: Engineer (Full Time)

Alpine Polytech is an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited materials and equipment performance testing laboratory that leads the industry in characterizing material lifetimes and performance in harsh environments. We specialize in both standardized and customized testing solutions for oil and gas, energy, aerospace, automotive, and other advanced industries, often evaluating tools and equipment under extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical exposure.

We are seeking an Engineer to join our highly technical team and help design, execute, and interpret mechanical and environmental test programs. In this role, you will use your engineering expertise to operate advanced lab equipment, manage test proposals and costing, and deliver clear, data-driven reports that guide our customers’ design and qualification decisions.

Key responsibilities

As an Engineer at Alpine, you will:

• Set up, conduct, and analyze tests utilizing relevant ASTM/ISO standards and customer specifications, documenting results and assembling reports.

• Work directly with customers to understand their needs and create test proposals, including scope of work and test costing aligned with Alpine’s pricing structure.

• Use Alpine’s Quality Management System and associated procedures, work instructions, and manager guidance to complete assigned tasks in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025.

• Understand, program, and operate laboratory testing equipment and computer analysis systems according to methods designated on work orders and project proposals (e.g., pressure, mechanical, thermal, and exposure tests).

• Design and/or review mechanical systems, fixtures, machined parts, and assemblies to meet customer specifications and internal procedures, particularly for tools tested in high-pressure, high-temperature, and chemically aggressive environments.

• Resolve problems by examining and evaluating data, identifying failure mechanisms, and selecting appropriate corrective steps; discuss test results and analyses with internal personnel and external customers.

• Write final reports that clearly present methods, data, and conclusions; obtain peer review, send to customers, and revise as needed.

• Oversee lab equipment operation, including following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, ordering supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating repairs.

• Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to Alpine’s lab safety policies; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and work around high-pressure systems, chemicals, and ovens with appropriate PPE.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have qualifications that include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or closely related field (4-year degree required).

• At least two years of experience in the oil and gas industry or a relevant engineering field involving mechanical testing, equipment qualification, or reliability engineering is preferred.

• Working knowledge of laboratory testing methods and equipment (e.g., mechanical load frames, pressure vessels, environmental chambers, data acquisition systems)

• Strong proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation, data analysis, and reporting.

• Understanding of SDS/MSDS and typical safety precautions when working with chemicals, including storage, mixing, use, and disposal; comfort working in environments that combine mechanical systems and aggressive chemistries.

• Experience with quality control analysis—conducting tests and inspections of products and processes to evaluate performance and identify nonconformances.

• High accuracy and attention to detail; thorough and disciplined in completing work tasks within a formal quality and accreditation framework.

• Applications experience (e.g., applying test data to real-world tool or system design) is a plus.

• Self-motivated, able to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team, with strong written and verbal communication skills for customer and internal interactions.

Working conditions

• Work is performed indoors in environmentally controlled office and laboratory environments at Alpine’s Fort Worth facility (1325 Ranchers Legacy Trail, Fort Worth, TX 76126).

• PPE is provided for work involving high pressure, chemicals, ovens, and other specialized equipment.

• While performing the duties of this job, you will frequently stand, walk, talk, and hear, and occasionally sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

• Pay Range: $30-$40/hr
