Controller - Commercial Real Estate We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead financial operations within a fast-paced, collaborative real estate environment. This role oversees reporting, compliance, and accounting across a high-volume commercial and retail portfolio, while partnering closely with senior leadership. Responsibilities Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, investor reporting packages, and capital call notices Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with U.S. GAAP Coordinate year-end audits and support external auditors Develop and manage annual budgets and periodic forecasts Review general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations Oversee accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, and rent roll accuracy Manage bank reconciliations, cash flow projections, and loan draws Administer distribution waterfalls, security deposits, and letters of credit Perform variance analysis and financial performance reporting Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, loan covenants, and regulatory requirements Review leases, loan documents, and management agreements Oversee CAM reconciliations, real estate tax escalations, and tax certiorari coordination Prepare 1099s and support tax reporting processes Implement and maintain strong internal controls Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff Identify and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a property controller role (NYC commercial/retail preferred) Strong experience with Yardi (Voyager required) Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and real estate accounting practices Advanced Excel skills Proven leadership and team management experience Strong communication, organizational, and analytical abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment #J-18808-Ljbffr
