Shop Service TechnicianBlaze - Maryland - Jessup, MD 20794Position Type Full Time Job Shift DayShop Service TechnicianPOSITION SUMMARYThe Shop Service Technician is responsible for providing in-shop technical support, diagnostics, service, and repairs for a diverse portfolio of equipment. This includes HPM (Hydraulic Performance Machines) foundation drilling equipment, Elliott Utility Equipment, as well as Vactor and TRUVAC environmental infrastructure equipment. This role combines strong mechanical and technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities to ensure equipment is serviced safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company and OEM standards. Additionally, this position supports new, used, rental, and customer-owned equipment by minimizing downtime, delivering high-quality repairs, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The Shop Service Technician is expected to operate independently and adapt to changing shop priorities within a heavy equipment service environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems.Assemble, install, and integrate electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components, including wiring of electrical panels and system connections.Develop and execute repair plans, including sequencing, parts identification, and component-level repairs to restore equipment to OEM specifications.Shop Service & Customer SupportPerform diagnostics, service, and repairs across all major equipment systems within the shop, including remote troubleshooting support as requested.Provide warranty support by evaluating and validating claims, coordinating with OEM, and submitting detailed service documentation.Communicate repair status, findings, and recommendations clearly while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.Work Order & Parts ManagementIdentify and source required parts, materials, and tooling to support efficient completion of repairs.Accurately complete and maintain service reports, work orders, and documentation, ensuring proper tracking of labor, materials, and service activity within company systems.Technical Proficiency & Equipment OperationRead and interpret parts diagrams, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and service manuals.Operate shop equipment, including forklifts and telehandlers, safely and effectively.Safety & ComplianceFollow all OSHA and company safety standards in all shop operations.Maintain a safety-first mindset when working in varying shop conditions and temperature extremes.Ensure all repairs and service activities meet company quality and safety expectations.QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE ENVIRONMENT5+ years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair; environmental, construction, vocational truck, or similar equipment experience preferred.Strong working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service documentation. Familiarity with PLC systems and basic programming concepts preferred.Experience performing equipment service and working independently with minimal supervision.Proficiency with basic computer functions for service reporting, documentation, and communication.Must possess a personal set of hand tools and willingness to expand tool inventory as needed.Maintain a valid driver's license. Ensure all repairs and service activities meet company quality and safety expectationsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENTWork performed in a shop environment with exposure to temperature extremes, noise, and heavy equipment.Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required.Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, including the proper use of PPESCHEDULE EXPECTATIONSAll work is performed at the Blaze Equipment shop in Jessup, MD. On occasion, the Shop Service Technician may be asked to assist the Road Service Technician.Standard Monday–Friday schedule with flexibility required to meet customer demand.Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required
