Job Title: Aircraft Structures Assembler – Contract-to-Perm (1st & 2nd Shift)
Job Description
This contract-to-permanent role focuses on the assembly, modification, and installation of aircraft components, sub-assemblies, and structural assemblies in a climate-controlled production environment. You will work with sheet metal and composite materials, perform complex assemblies and riveting, and ensure all work meets strict quality and customer requirements. The position offers consistent full-time hours on either 1st or 2nd shift with regular overtime opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, modify, and install aircraft components, sub-assemblies, and structural assemblies according to blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
- Interpret and work from detailed blueprints, specifications, and work instructions to meet all quality and dimensional requirements.
- Perform basic sheet metal work, riveting, and complex assembly methods, including complex compound unique shimming and structures assembly.
- Complete required data gathering and documentation to accurately record assembly progress and process information.
- Set up and operate various shop equipment such as drill motors, countersink cutters, squeezes, drill presses, floor-mounted rivet presses, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure assemblies meet required tolerances and quality standards.
- Identify nonconforming parts, conditions, and manufacturing processes and escalate or correct issues as appropriate.
- Troubleshoot problems that arise during assembly and proactively suggest and support process improvements.
- Perform all required rework or changes incorporated during the assembly process to bring parts and assemblies into compliance.
- Assemble major components of sub-assemblies, large structural assemblies, and smaller bench work assemblies, including composite and 787 frames composite assemblies.
- Move, stage, and obtain correct parts, materials, tools, and assemblies to support efficient workflow.
- Communicate verbally with team members and supervisors regarding work status, issues, and process steps.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and follow all safety procedures when working around moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and production equipment.
- Work scheduled shifts and required overtime, including some Fridays, Saturdays, and occasional Sundays as needed to meet production demands.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two to five years of complex assembly experience, preferably in an aerospace or similar manufacturing environment.
- Two to five years of structures experience, including structural assembly and repair.
- Hands-on experience with sheet metal work, including forming, fitting, and assembly.
- Proficiency in basic and complex riveting techniques and use of rivet presses.
- Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
- Experience with composite materials, composite fabrication, and composite assemblies.
- Ability to perform complex assemblies, including complex compound unique shimming and spares assembly.
- Competence using hand tools and precision measuring tools for assembly and inspection.
- Ability to set up and operate equipment such as forklifts, drill presses, floor-mounted rivet presses, and overhead cranes.
- Strong time management skills to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
- Ability to communicate verbally regarding work processes and to write and record process information accurately.
- Physical ability to regularly use hands, talk, and hear; frequently stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms; and occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds while performing job duties.
- Willingness and ability to work full-time on 1st or 2nd shift and to perform overtime as required, including some weekends.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Six months of vocational training in a related technical or mechanical field.
- Previous experience with large aerospace manufacturers or major airframe programs.
- Experience with 787 frames composite assembly or similar large composite structures.
- Familiarity with complex assembly of spares and replacement structural components.
- Comfort working in loud industrial environments with exposure to vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals, while following safety procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to identify nonconformances and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, contract-to-permanent position in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on aircraft structures and composite assemblies. First shift typically runs 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime commonly available on Saturdays from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Second shift typically runs 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with additional work on Fridays and Saturdays as needed; second shift does not typically work Sundays but may reach approximately 60 hours per week with overtime. You will work around moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, and occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, following all safety guidelines. The noise level is usually loud, and hearing protection may be required. You will regularly stand, walk, reach, and use your hands throughout the shift, and occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, while lifting up to 25 pounds as needed. The environment uses equipment such as forklifts, drill presses, floor-mounted rivet presses, overhead cranes, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments. Steel-toe boots are required as part of the dress code to ensure safety on the production floor

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
