Java Software Engineer

Java Software Engineer (Hybrid – Downtown Chicago) Our client, a world-renowned hospitality company, is expanding its engineering team to support a growing portfolio of strategic initiatives and technology modernization efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for a Java Software Engineer who enjoys building scalable services, tackling technical debt, and contributing to the evolution of enterprise systems into a modern microservices architecture. You’ll join a high-impact, collaborative team responsible for powering critical business capabilities, including loyalty management and integrations across numerous enterprise platforms. With a steady pipeline of new projects and modernization efforts underway, you’ll have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions from day one. What You'll Do Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and services using Spring Boot Build and enhance RESTful APIs, services, and system integrations Support the modernization of a large JBoss monolith, helping migrate functionality into a scalable microservices architecture Work on backend services that support loyalty management and other enterprise systems Participate in technical debt reduction initiatives while delivering new business capabilities Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance existing production applications Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions Contribute to cloud and platform modernization efforts, including a potential migration from on-prem Kubernetes environments to AWS Core Technologies Java Spring Boot REST APIs / Services Nice-to-Have Experience MongoDB AWS Cloud Event-driven architectures Experience supporting applications that integrate with Kafka-based services What We're Looking For 3–5 years of professional software development experience Strong Java development skills with hands-on Spring Boot experience Experience building APIs and backend services in a production environment Understanding of distributed systems and microservices concepts Ability to work independently and contribute immediately within a small, agile team Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to work across both new development and existing applications Why This Opportunity?
