Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to own day-to-day accounting operations, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general ledger work. This role is ideal for a highly responsible, detail‑oriented professional who loves building order in a fast-moving environment and is comfortable working independently. You will be the key person ensuring bills are paid on time, receivables are tracked and collected, and our books are clean and organized. The role has significant upside: for the right person, this is a clear growth path into a Controller position as the company continues to expand. Key Responsibilities Own day-to-day Accounts Payable: vendor setup, invoice entry, coding to the correct GL accounts, payment runs, and reconciliation. Manage Accounts Receivable: customer invoicing, payment application, aging reports, and follow‑up on overdue balances. Maintain accurate and timely general ledger entries, including journal entries, accruals, and month‑end close support. Reconcile bank accounts, merchant processors, inventory‑related accounts, and key balance sheet accounts on a regular cadence. Prepare basic financial reports (AP/AR summaries, cash position, aging, expense reports) to support management decision‑making. Partner with operations and warehouse teams to ensure alignment between inventory movements and accounting records. Work closely with the CEO and external CPA to support clean financial statements, tax filings, and audits. Help document and improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows as we scale. Support implementation and optimization of systems (QuickBooks and related tools) to increase efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of hands‑on accounting experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, preferably in a retail, e‑commerce, or inventory‑based business. Strong QuickBooks skills with significant hands‑on experience (posting entries, reconciliations, reporting, troubleshooting) is required. Experience in fine wine, beverage, or luxury retail strongly preferred. Solid understanding of basic GAAP accounting principles (no CPA required). Proven track record of being highly responsible, diligent, and detail‑oriented, with low error rates and strong follow‑through. Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Comfortable collaborating with operations, warehouse, and leadership teams; clear and professional communication style. High level of integrity and ownership mindset; able to treat the accounting function as your craft.
