Duties

Help

• Receives, reviews, and submits requests for personnel clearances for serviced civilian, contractor, and military personnel.
• Uses computer software such as analysis tools to research and facilitate work.
• Performs duties related to assisting suitability adjudications/determinations for the fitness and suitability of civilian employees, contractors and/or applicants for initial and continuing employment retention.
• Executes established policies and procedures required for the personnel security program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.
• Attend the ARNG Security Manager Course within 12 months of hire.
• Obtain the Security Professional Certification(s) within 24 months of hire.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a top secret clearance.
• Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
• This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
• The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial vehicles to perform temporary duty assignments.
• This is an Army National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership.

MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E7, or WO1 through CW3, or O1 through O2

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: 35 Series, 01A, 011A, 00F

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Ability to research, organize, analyze, and synthesize information from a variety of automated systems across multiple DOD, Federal, and state agencies. Knowledge of investigation and re-investigation processes to initiate and conduct follow-up in the approved automated system(s). Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career. Skill in oral and written communication sufficient to write reports, conduct presentations, and/or clearly communicate personnel security processes, regulations, or training. Must have at least 12 months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07). Must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

The Human Resources Officer (HRO) is the final approval for all ETP waivers. If approved, the memorandum will be returned to you and then submitted with your application.

Education

To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the line of work.

For the GS-09 level: To qualify on education alone applicant must have one of the following: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 including qualifying with combination of education and experience.
