Teller Service Specialist

General Purpose Under supervision and in accordance with procedures and systems, receive members in person and by telephone, explain and promote all credit union services, provide teller services to members, process all types of teller transactions (loan payments, withdrawals, night deposits and mail deposits), and give members information regarding the credit union’s products and services. Fundamental Duties Maintain the highest standards of integrity, personal responsibility, sense of community and teamwork by self‑example within and outside MMFCU. Build member loyalty through an uncompromised commitment to meeting and exceeding member expectations. Develop and maintain relationships with credit union members by determining member needs and maximizing opportunities to sell additional credit union products and services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Handle members’ requests per member directions with complete accuracy and timeliness. Accept checks, follow established policy guidelines to reduce risk and monetary losses, maintain service standards, and follow up on restrictions. Comply with all federal and NCUA regulations (Reg CC, Bank Secrecy Act, Reg D, Truth in Savings). Receive share deposits and make share withdrawals and transfers, VISA credit card payments, VISA advances, loan payments, mortgage payments. Refer credit union services that best meet the member’s financial needs, including product accounts and electronic delivery channels. Provide official checks and money orders, redeem savings bonds, complete CTR reports when members exceed federal thresholds. Operate and balance coin machine, operate postage machine for outgoing mail, prepare and process mail as needed, submit checks via the check imaging system. Open and close the building daily, ensuring the alarm system is activated and deactivated; process day‑end reports. Maintain security and be responsible for cash drawer, open and close the computer terminal, account for assigned cash and accurately balance to the computer balance sheet. Balance day‑ending inventory items and close VISA advances. Find errors in paperwork in a timely manner and correct them with supervisor’s help. Effectively explain credit union products and services to members, cross‑sell products and services when appropriate. Communicate with members requiring assistance in account usage, balance and balancing information, copy requests, change of address, and similar account usage; administer appropriate procedures to process the items. Other Duties and Responsibilities Research account information or discrepancies for members at their request. Process check orders, make address changes, direct loan documents and other correspondence to correct departments. Close accounts when requested, according to procedure. Count, sort and wrap coin received as necessary. Scan receipts and documents into the imaging system. Take part in all required training sessions and use educational materials available through the credit union. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Job Qualifications (Knowledge) Working knowledge of all teller functions. Working knowledge of general ledger accounts pertinent to the department. Working knowledge of the credit union’s products and services. Working knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures and credit union's service philosophy. Working knowledge of safety and security programs for false alarms, robberies, bomb threats, extortion and active shooter scenarios. Working knowledge of the credit union’s in‑house computer systems. Job Qualifications (Skills) Vision: Ability to handle cash transactions and verify financial transactions; complete necessary paperwork. Speech/Hearing: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with staff, members and vendors. Manual Dexterity: Ability to perform necessary computer‑related input. Physical Mobility: Must be able to operate teller window, work flexible hours, and carry bags of coin. Job Qualifications (Ability) Assess needs of multiple members and prioritize requests to ensure that all members receive the highest quality service possible. Present a professional and personable personality that communicates to members and visitors that the credit union is a professional financial institution. Interact with more than one department daily. Work within precise standardized guidelines while having latitude to make decisions and take initiative to resolve problems or unique circumstances. Possess versatility and flexibility to successfully serve as a back‑up to other positions as required. Understand and follow moderately complex written and oral instructions. Express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Accept limited responsibility for funds/records and access to confidential data. Job Qualifications (Education/Experience) A high school level of language, math and reasoning skills is required. Two years of experience in a related field with equal responsibilities is acceptable. Formal training should be supplemented with continuing education. Work Hours Full‑time, 40 hours per week; available to work M‑F 7:15‑5:45, location schedule dependent. Pay Transparency Pay: $18.22 - $20.24 per hour. The specific salary offered will be determined based on qualifications, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations and available market information.
