Responsibilities

• Assesses and monitors total physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients of all ages.

• With guidance from/collaboration with other health team members, develops and maintains with the patient/significant other, an individualized, professional approach to patient care reflective of changing needs/goals as determined by evaluating the patient/significant other response.

• Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing standards.

• Assesses and plans for discharge needs, evaluates patients and significant others educational needs and initiates and implements appropriate teaching or makes appropriate referrals.

• Documents nursing care consistent with documentation guidelines.

• Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.

Qualifications

Education:

• Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required

• Bachelors in Nursing preferred

• Required to obtain 4 hours of annual stroke education

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current RN Licensure in state of Iowa or applicable compact state. Must be licensed in state of residence

• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)

• Completion of hospital-approved Critical Care course within 18 months of employment

Experience:

• ED or Critical Care experience preferred

• One year of acute care nursing experience acceptable
