Job Summary:
The labor and delivery department in La Jolla, California, is seeking a highly skilled Perinatal Float Pool Nurse to join the team. This role involves providing specialized care across multiple perinatal units, including labor and delivery, postpartum, and the Hillcrest LDRP. The successful candidate must bring their license on the first day and demonstrate competency in both labor and delivery and postpartum nursing. The position requires cross-training and rotation among all three perinatal units. Candidates must be available to start on 07/06/2026 and work a 12-hour night shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Job Details:

• Location: La Jolla, California
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week; must be available for one additional overtime shift every 2 weeks with at least a 2-week notice for any schedule changes.
• Years of Experience: Two years of combined labor and delivery (L&D) and postpartum experience, with demonstrated competency in both areas.
• Certifications: ACLS (American Council of Life Support), AWHONN Advanced and Intermediate certifications, BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), BSN degree, and AWHONN certification renewal every 2 years.
• Licenses: Valid California state license required at the time of submission.
• Travel Experience: Required.
• Additional Qualifications: Proficiency in administration of blood and blood products, adult cardiac arrest, amnioinfusion, antepartum care, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, APGAR scoring, assisting with high-risk delivery, cesarean sections (C-section), fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, postpartum hemorrhage management, and use of electronic fetal monitoring (EFM).
• Responsibilities: Providing comprehensive maternal and neonatal care, supporting high-risk pregnancies, assisting with delivery procedures, managing postpartum and neonatal care, and rotating among all three perinatal units. Floating to different campuses and units as required is mandatory.
• Additional Information: Candidates will be expected to complete non-billable modules during orientation and annually, with up to 8 hours of module hours factored into shift hours.
• Requirements: Must have active California license, two manager references, and comply with COVID-19 vaccination and flu shot policies. No RTO in the first two weeks; up to 7 days of RTO allowed with documentation.
