Our 90-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility is committed to providing exceptional care, and nutritious, high-quality meals are an essential part of our residents' health and recovery.This position plays a key role in our kitchen operations and serves as the lead in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. If you are passionate about cooking, take pride in food safety and presentation, and enjoy making a positive impact in the lives of others, we'd love to hear from you.Pay - $21.00- $24.00 per hourPosition SummaryThe Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals while ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation, and dietary guidelines. In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the Cook oversees daily kitchen operations and supports the dietary team to ensure efficient meal service for our residents.Essential ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook meals according to approved recipes, menus, and physician-ordered therapeutic dietsPrepare a variety of foods in large quantities while maintaining consistency and qualityAccurately prepare modified and texture-altered diets, including pureed foodsFollow portion control guidelines and ensure attractive food presentationRecord and monitor food temperatures to maintain food safety standardsMaintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, cooking area, equipment, and serving cartsEnsure sanitizer buckets are maintained with proper quaternary solution levelsAssist with meal service and support the dietary team during breakfast, lunch, and dinner serviceFollow all local, state, federal, and facility food safety and sanitation regulationsMonitor and complete assigned cleaning schedulesCommunicate resident concerns or dietary-related issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing as appropriateParticipate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staffProvide leadership and assist with kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary SupervisorWork collaboratively with nursing, therapy, and other departments to provide outstanding resident careQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of one (1) year of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, or similar healthcare setting preferredCurrent California Food Handler's Card requiredAbility to prepare therapeutic and special diets accuratelyAbility to work independently and follow standardized recipes and menusKnowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection control practicesExcellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skillsReliable, dependable, and committed to providing excellent service to residentsBenefitsEligible full-time employees enjoy a competitive benefits package, including:Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance401(k) retirement planPaid Time Off (PTO)Supportive leadership and collaborative work environmentOpportunities for professional growth and advancementJoin Victorian Post Acute and become part of a team that believes great meals contribute to great care.
