Job Overview

We are seeking a handy, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy Service Technician & IT Support Specialist to join our growing team!

In this hybrid technical role, you will provide hands-on repair for office equipment while supporting our FlatRateIT managed services program. You do not need years of specialized printer repair experience— we will fully train you on how to diagnose, disassemble, and fix printers and copiers. You will pair that hardware training with your existing foundational IT skills to support our clients' daily desktop, software, and network needs.

Key Responsibilities

Printer & Equipment Hardware (Paid Training Provided)

• Equipment Repair & Maintenance: Disassemble, diagnose, repair, and service a variety of printers, copiers, and multi-function devices (both in-shop and at customer locations).

• Delivery & Setup: Unbox, assemble, stage, and deliver office equipment, loaner units, and supplies.

• Inventory & Records: Maintain clear, organized service logs, track replacement parts inventory, and manage work orders accurately.

FlatRateIT & Technical Support

• Helpdesk & Desktop Support: Provide responsive support for client PCs, laptops, and Office 365 applications, helping resolve common software and hardware issues.

• PC/Laptop Optimization: Perform software cleanups, address performance slowdowns, and manage weekly OS, software, and security updates.

• Network & Connectivity: Troubleshoot basic local network issues, install printer drivers, and configure network IP settings for client workstations and equipment.

• Hardware & Cloud Services: Assist with basic hardware upgrades (RAM, SSDs), hard drive cloning, and cloud backup configurations (Google Drive / OneDrive).

Qualifications & Skills

• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong hands-on ability (comfortable using hand tools, working with small electro-mechanical components, and learning machine assembly).

• Core IT Knowledge: Solid understanding of basic networking (IP setup, local networks), Windows OS troubleshooting, Microsoft 365, and driver/software installation.

• Exceptional Organization: High attention to detail required to manage service tickets, document fixes, and maintain inventory.

• Customer Service Mindset: Clear, friendly communication skills and a professional demeanor when assisting clients on-site or over the phone.

• Education & Certifications: High School Diploma or GED required; technical school training, hands-on computer building experience, or certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+ or Network+) are a strong plus.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Lifting Ability: Must be able to safely lift, move, and maneuver office equipment weighing up to 66 lbs regularly.

• Physical Agility: Comfortable bending, kneeling, and working in tight office or rack spaces to service equipment and cabling.

• Driver's License: Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for local client site visits.
