Receiving InspectorThe Receiving Inspector verifies that all incoming materials, components, and assemblies meet engineering and customer quality requirements. This role applies Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), evaluates supplier documentation, and inspects to relevant industry standards such as AWS and IPC/WHMA-A-620 for cable and harness assemblies. The inspector maintains accurate records, supports audits, and contributes to continuous quality improvement.ResponsibilitiesPerform visual, dimensional, and documentation inspections of incoming materials, fabricated components, and electrical assemblies to ensure they meet specified quality requirements.Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) based on engineering drawings and specifications.Inspect wire harnesses, electrical connectors, and assemblies in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.Verify supplier certifications, test reports, and material traceability against purchase orders, drawings, and applicable standards.Identify and segregate nonconforming materials and initiate, document, and maintain Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) in accordance with the Quality Management System.Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to evaluate nonconforming items and support disposition decisions.Collaborate with suppliers and Purchasing to implement and verify Supplier Corrective Actions (SCARs).Maintain inspection records, calibration compliance, and traceability documentation for all inspected items.Support internal and supplier audits and assist with quality improvement and root cause analysis activities.Ensure adherence to safety protocols and ISO 9001 quality system requirements during all inspection activities.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent.3–5 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.Hands-on experience applying GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings.Practical knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 inspection criteria for cable and harness assemblies.Experience with nonconformance reporting, Material Review Board (MRB) processes, and supplier corrective action activities.Familiarity with ERP or Quality Management System (QMS) software and accurate data entry of inspection results.Proficiency with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to quality and inspection issues.Effective communication and collaboration skills for working across departments and with suppliers.High attention to detail and excellent documentation accuracy.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate degree or technical certification in a related field is preferred.Experience inspecting weldments, machined parts, or electrical harnesses is preferred.Working knowledge of AWS and related material standards is an asset.Familiarity with blueprint reading and harness assembly and inspection practices is beneficial.Experience in quality control, quality assurance, and quality inspection processes is advantageous.Why Work Here?This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a pathway to long-term employment with a focus on quality, continuous improvement, and professional development. Work is performed around production equipment and storage areas, requiring adherence to safety protocols and quality procedures in a hands-on, shop-floor inspection environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverside, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
