Ultrasound Technologist

Ultrasound Technologist – Pensacola, FL Nemours is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist. The technologist will operate and maintain all ultrasound equipment, perform studies to evaluate various organs, and record images in standard diagnostic formats. The position requires ARDMS registration or eligibility, with certification completed within one year. The technologist will participate in quality assurance and improvement programs, identify opportunities to enhance services, and implement actions aligned with Nemours goals. As essential hospital personnel, technologists must report to work even during inclement weather. Essential Functions Perform ultrasounds in outpatient, inpatient, ER, OR, hospital, and satellite outpatient clinics, and conduct portable exams as needed. Prepare the room, give patient and family instructions, and physically prepare patients for examination, including explaining the procedure and answering questions. Familiar with ultrasound imaging protocols and provide accurate preparation instructions. Identify patients, properly label all images, and document in PACS; operate the hospital computer system for patient data entry and retrieval. Administer and document contrast media per departmental protocols under direct radiologist or physician supervision; monitor patients for allergic reactions after contrast. Screen patients for contraindications that may be hazardous to health or safety. Maintain equipment function with proper use and maintenance; report unsafe conditions and incidents. Perform high‑ and low‑level disinfection of probes per hospital policies. Work well with others, act as a team member, and work independently with critical thinking to improve care quality. Communicate effectively, accept feedback, ask questions, and coordinate with other departments. Assist in training new personnel, students, and physicians. In‑person employment with regular attendance; position essential during severe weather emergencies and other disasters. Work a flexible schedule, be on‑call, and maintain reliable transportation. Operate and care for all ultrasound and other patient care equipment as needed. Communicate scheduling delays to patients, staff, and families. Inventory, stock supplies, and maintain cleanliness of designated work areas. Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are available and operational; follow procedures for downtime and equipment failure. Know sedation and contrast procedures. Answer phones and coordinate patients as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements High School Diploma. ARDMS registration or eligibility, completing registration within one year. HLD Nanosonics Trophon certificate within 90 days.
