Position Overview

The Maintenance & Asset Manager is a working manager responsible for improving plant uptime and maintaining the reliability of Zutat's stationary equipment, mobile equipment and all trailers.

Approximately two-thirds of this position will involve hands-on troubleshooting, repair, fabrication and preventive maintenance. The remaining time will focus on asset management, maintenance systems and leading two maintenance employees.

This individual must combine strong mechanical ability with sound judgment. They will diagnose equipment problems, determine the most effective repair, recognize when outside expertise is needed and help prevent recurring failures. They will also build practical maintenance systems and ensure the team consistently completes preventive maintenance and other assigned responsibilities.

Core Responsibilities

1. Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair -  Diagnose and repair mechanical and basic electrical equipment issues, including welding and fabrication as needed.
2. Plant Uptime and Reliability -  Prioritize breakdowns, address recurring failures and make sound repair decisions that balance safety, quality, cost and production needs.
3. Preventive Maintenance -  Develop, maintain and enforce practical preventive maintenance schedules, routines and documentation.
4. Asset Management -  Oversee the condition, maintenance history and repair needs of stationary equipment, mobile equipment and van trailers.
5. Mainte nance Team Leadership - Build relationships that provide a foundation for leading, equipping, and holding maintenance employees accountable for safe, high-quality and timely work.
6. Contractor and Vendor Coordination -  Determine when outside expertise is needed and manage contractors to ensure quality, cost-effective results.
7. Safety and Continuous Improvement -  Promote behavior-based safety by equipping the team with training and information that empowers them to choose safe maintenance practices. Identify improvements that increase equipment reliability, safety and efficiency.
8. Other items as directed by Plant Manager or COO

Time Expectations

• The Maintenance Manager role is a 7:00am-3:30pm position Monday through Friday. While these are the typical hours, maintenance will be on call throughout the week in case of emergencies.

Compensation

• $38-48 per hour (primarily based on experience and skill set)
• Overtime at 1.5 X rate of base pay
