Responsibilities Prepare and present the Turnpike System’s financial information in accordance with GAAP, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Financial Services. Assist with the Turnpike’s year‑end and mid‑year financial reporting closing processes, including accruals, adjusting entries, trial‑balance analysis, and timely compliance with Department closing requirements. Research capital project expenses and reclassify them as fixed assets. Review and evaluate current financial reporting and reconciliation processes. Recommend process improvements and develop action plans for implementation. Document policies and procedures. Qualifications & Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Ability to review fiscal data for accuracy and completeness. Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Required/Desired Skills English comprehension and effective verbal and written communication. Advanced Excel skills (formulas, sorting, filtering) – 5+ years experience. Advanced Excel – PivotTables – 5+ years experience. Advanced Excel – LOOKUP functions (XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP) – 5+ years experience. Experience preparing financial statements and financial reporting – 3+ years. Experience using statistical data (debits/credits) – 3+ years. Problem‑solving techniques. Tracking general consultant charges for accurate project cost reporting – basic. Experience reclassifying capital project expenses as fixed assets – basic. Experience with state government accounting – basic. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
