Fabrication Shop ForemanSmith Industries is seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Foreman to lead daily operations within our fabrication shop. This role is responsible for supervising fabrication personnel, coordinating production schedules, ensuring work meets engineering and quality standards, and maintaining a safe and efficient shop environment.The ideal candidate has strong hands-on fabrication experience combined with proven leadership in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise fabrication shop personnel including welders, fitters, machinists, and laborersCoordinate daily production schedules to meet operational deadlines and productivity goalsEnsure fabrication work complies with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standardsMonitor workflow, materials, and inventory to maintain efficient shop operationsEnforce safety policies and OSHA standards while promoting a strong safety cultureInspect tools, machinery, and shop equipment and coordinate maintenance when neededWork closely with engineering, quality, and procurement teams to resolve production challengesTrain, mentor, and develop fabrication personnelMaintain production and labor records and provide updates to managementIdentify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings within the fabrication processQualifications5+ years of fabrication, welding, or metalworking experience2+ years in a supervisory or foreman role preferredStrong knowledge of welding processes, fabrication techniques, and blueprint readingExperience with fabrication equipment such as welders, presses, grinders, shears, and CNC equipmentStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to troubleshoot production issues and maintain workflowCommitment to workplace safety and regulatory complianceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; trade or technical training preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and climb ladders throughout the workdayAbility to lift up to 50 lbs when requiredComfortable working in an industrial fabrication environment with noise, dust, and heavy equipment
