Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive direct patient care within the medical-surgical specialty, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The RN functions as a team leader and collaborates with interdisciplinary staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients regularly to determine nursing needs and establish individualized care plans.
• Administer medications, treatments, and provide patient education in accordance with physician’s orders and evidence-based practices.
• Respond promptly to call lights and alarms, assist with patient transfers, and support patient comfort and safety.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and participate in updating or revising care strategies collaboratively.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff while overseeing compliance with all regulatory and institutional policies.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active Michigan nursing license as verified by LARA and/or Nursys.
• Possess at least 2 years of recent Med Surg experience, with pediatric experience highly preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Epic EMR system.
• Complete and maintain current skills checklists pertinent to Med Surg nursing.
• Provide two supervisory reference forms from within the last two years.
• Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS through the American Heart Association are required.
