Job Description

• This role performs electrical repairs, maintenance, new installations, and modifications for yard facilities, utilities, power distribution systems, and production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations across the facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical repairs and preventive maintenance on yard facilities, utilities, power distribution systems, and production equipment.
• Execute new electrical installations and system modifications for yard facilities, utilities, power distribution, and production equipment in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.
• Inspect electrical equipment and systems regularly to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation.
• Use specified tools and electrical test equipment to diagnose issues and perform equipment services and repairs.
• Complete required reports and documentation accurately, including work orders, inspection forms, discrepancy sheets, log books, and service forms.
• Install, repair, and maintain all electrical distribution systems throughout the facility, including systems operating up to and including 480VAC.
• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment and portable production support equipment within the facility.
• Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and manufacturers’ documentation to identify faults and implement effective repairs.
• Apply energy recognition practices and follow lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safe work on energized and de-energized systems.
• Adhere to electrical safety practices and use appropriate electrical protective equipment during all tasks.
• Perform assigned tasks safely at heights and in confined spaces as required by the job.
• Carry out other related tasks and duties relevant to the electrical trade as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3 years of electrical maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience working with voltages up to and including 480VAC.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment using schematics, diagrams, and other manufacturers’ documentation.
• Proficiency in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting for facilities, utilities, and production equipment.
• Training in energy recognition and safe work practices around energized systems.
• Training and practical knowledge in electrical safety protective equipment.
• Training and experience with lockout/tagout procedures.
• Ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces.
• Flexibility to work any shift as required by operational needs.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to hear warning signals and respond appropriately in a dynamic industrial environment.
• Ability to read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations, and warning notices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with voltages higher than 480VAC is a plus.
• Experience performing electrical upgrades in an industrial or yard environment.
• Proficiency in maintaining power distribution systems in large facilities or industrial settings.
• Strong documentation skills for completing work orders, inspection forms, discrepancy sheets, log books, and service forms.
• Comfort working with a variety of electrical tools and test equipment in an industrial environment.

Work Environment

• Work takes place in a shipyard environment and involves outdoor work more than 50% of the time. The setting includes industrial facilities, utilities, and production areas with active power distribution and production equipment. The role requires working in varying weather conditions, at heights, and in confined spaces as needed. You will use standard electrical tools and test equipment while following strict safety procedures, including the use of electrical protective equipment and adherence to lockout/tagout and energy control practices. Work hours may involve different shifts to support operational needs in a 24/7 industrial environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
