Position Summary: The Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shipping and receiving operations for the company. This role ensures the accurate and timely processing of shipments, managing inventory control, and follows compliance with safety regulations. This role coordinates the movement of goods in and out of the facility, ensuring that products are properly received, stored, and shipped according to company standards and customer requirements. This position works closely with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the supply chain.

Key Duties and Essential Functions

• Use P21 software to lead shipping and receiving warehouse operations to ensure accurate and timely movement of materials while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Label items and package shipments for daily movement of products.
• Pull and stage all materials for projects for upcoming jobs.
• Maintain min/max for all inventory as needed, conduct regular cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure accurate system records.
• Coordinate logistics activities, including carrier scheduling, inbound and outbound shipments, and cross-functional communication to meet delivery commitments.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Optimize warehouse layout and material flow to improve space utilization.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ year's experience in shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
• Problem-solving abilities to handle challenges in logistics and shipping.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
• Ability to self-direct, prioritize, and find the next task to work on.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience preferably in the piping or related industry.
• Experience working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands:

• Heavy Lifting: Shipping and Receiving often needs to move heavy materials, equipment, or tools, sometimes weighing over 50 pounds.
• Standing for Long Periods: Shipping and Receiving requires standing for extended hours, which can place stress on the lower back and legs.
• Visual Strain: Although not strictly physical in the sense of strength, this position must focus closely on their work for long periods, which can cause visual fatigue and require concentration.
• Exposure to Loud Noise: While not a physical movement, the sometimes noisy work environment can contribute to physical strain and fatigue, especially if hearing protection is not used.

Working Conditions:

• Warehouse or Distribution Environment: Work is primarily performed in a warehouse which may expose the employee to varying weather conditions.
• Safety Hazards: Fire Risk/Electrical Hazards/Exposure to Toxic Substances: When working in a warehouse, especially when working with flammable materials fires are a potential hazard. Proper fire safety measures, like having fire extinguishers on hand, are critical. There is a risk of electric shock in the warehouse environment. Sometimes toxic substances are used in the warehouse environment. PPE may be required.
• Injury Risk: This position involves sharp tools, heavy equipment, and moving parts, which can cause cuts, burns, or other injuries if safety procedures aren't followed. Wearing proper protective gear, such as gloves, jackets, and steel-toed boots, is essential.
• Job Stress: Time Pressure: Shipping and Receiving may face pressure to meet deadlines, especially in high-demand industries or during large projects. This can create stress and fatigue, particularly when working in adverse conditions or on complex tasks.
• Expectations and Communication: Shipping and Receiving Supervisors are often in direct contact with clients or stakeholders, and managing expectations and delivering on promises while handling complaints or requests for changes can add to the stress.
• Workplace Regulations and Standards: Health and Safety Standards: Shipping and Receiving must adhere to strict health and safety regulations to protect themselves from hazards like fumes, fire, and injury. These standards are often set by occupational safety organizations like OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Shipping and Receiving are required to wear appropriate PPE like hearing plugs and safety glasses when needed.
