Job Title: LPN Profession: Licensed Practical Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 40 hours Shift: Multiple Hours per Shift: 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Valid LPN License Certifications: Current certifications as required Must-Have: - Knowledge of gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice - Understanding of the effects of the aging process - Familiarity with practices and procedures of team nursing - Knowledge of pharmacology and medications - Awareness of federal and state regulations governing practical nursing practices Description: Schedule is 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM. Full-time or PRN options available. Block scheduling which rotates. Always includes two consecutive days off and every other weekend. Responsibilities include administering medication and performing treatments on an assigned unit as ordered by the physician and within the scope of the license. Medications may be in various forms, including oral, enteral, parenteral, suppository, etc. Treatments may include sterile and aseptic wound cleaning and dressing, postural drainage and percussion, tracheostomy, gastrostomy and jejunostomy care, and catheter care. Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments. Ensure an adequate supply of medications and treatment supplies is available. Receive and deliver information regarding residents' medical, social, functional, and other needs. Participate in shift reports. Communicate with residents, their families, and staff as necessary to ensure appropriate interdisciplinary care. Complete the initial admission nursing assessment tool for newly admitted residents. Assist in the development of Minimum Data Set assessments, quarterly reviews, and care plans. Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnoses, observations, treatments, and summaries of resident progress. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement programs. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Skills required include: Observing and reporting on resident behaviors and progress. Applying and interpreting regulations governing geriatric nursing practices. Assisting in the development and implementation of patient care plans within a team concept. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to abide by nursing regulations. Listen, observe, assess, and respond to medical emergencies. Evaluate, analyze, and make independent decisions regarding client health problems. Respond to medical issues and inquiries in a professional manner. Establish and maintain effective work relationships.
