Staff Accountant

As a staff accountant you can expect to assist on a variety of client engagements, including working as a member of an audit engagement team, preparing individual and corporate tax returns, preparing financial projections, researching tax issues and other business inquiries for a client. A qualified staff accountant has a BS in Accounting, is detail oriented and able to handle a fast-paced work environment. CPA eligibility is a plus. The ideal candidate will have an accounting degree from a major university, and any level of experience, including entry level, up to 3 years. Responsibilities Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments. Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data. Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information. Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts. Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts. Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation. Verifies assets and liabilities by comparing items to documentation. Completes audit workpapers by documenting audit tests and findings. Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
