Strategic Communications Specialist

Description The Strategic Communications Specialist supports organizational communication efforts by developing and distributing compelling content that promotes Blue Learning’s mission, programs, campuses, and initiatives. This position is responsible for creating written and digital content for a variety of audiences, managing select social media activities, supporting media relations efforts, and helping maintain a consistent brand presence across multiple communication channels. The Strategic Communications Specialist collaborates with departments across the organization to identify and share stories that highlight student success, educational programs, and organizational achievements. Job Duties Content Development and Communications Develop, write, edit, and distribute content for websites, newsletters, blogs, press releases, and other communication channels. Create and manage content that supports organizational branding, student recruitment, stakeholder engagement, and community awareness efforts. Coordinate with campus and department leaders to identify, develop, and share impactful stories and achievements. Social Media Management Assist with the planning, creation, scheduling, and publishing of content across organizational social media platforms. Assist in the management and coordination of content across more than 100 organizational social media accounts and platforms, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and brand alignment. Monitor social media engagement and provide recommendations to improve reach, engagement, and audience growth. Communications Strategy and Brand Management Support the development and execution of communication campaigns that align with organizational goals and initiatives. Assist in maintaining brand consistency across all internal and external communications. Contribute to the ongoing development of communication strategies and best practices. Public Relations and Stakeholder Engagement Support media inquiries, earned media opportunities, and public relations initiatives as assigned. Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in journalism, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field. 3-5 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field. Demonstrated experience writing for digital platforms, websites, blogs, newsletters, and social media. Experience coordinating projects and collaborating with multiple departments and stakeholders. Experience with social media management platforms, content planning, and analytics is preferred. Experience in education, nonprofit, or public sector communications is a plus. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills. Ability to adapt messaging for varied audiences and communication channels. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when appropriate. Proficiency with Google products and common digital communication tools. Familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems, and basic analytics reporting.
