Position Summary 

The QHSE Systems Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) management systems. This position ensures compliance with applicable standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations while driving operational excellence through structured quality and safety improvement initiatives. 

The role provides leadership for internal and external audits, management system compliance, corrective action processes, KPI deployment, and cross-functional continuous improvement projects across multiple manufacturing sites. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Quality Management System (QMS) 

• Maintain and improve the company Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer requirements, and internal standards. 
• Develop, standardize, and control quality procedures, work instructions, forms, and documented processes. 
• Coordinate Management Review processes and monitor effectiveness of quality objectives and KPIs. 
• Manage document control systems and ensure consistency across facilities. 
• Lead internal audit programs and coordinate third-party certification and surveillance audits. 
• Facilitate corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes and verify effectiveness of implemented actions. 
• Support customer, supplier, and regulatory quality audits. 
• Drive standardization of quality systems and best practices across all locations. 
• Monitor quality performance metrics and identify systemic improvement opportunities. 

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Systems 

• Maintain HSE management systems to ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, ISO 14001, and corporate standards. 
• Coordinate site-level HSE programs, procedures, policies, and compliance initiatives. 
• Lead investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and environmental events. 
• Ensure completion and effectiveness of corrective actions arising from HSE incidents and audits. 
• Administer risk assessments, hazard analyses, and management of change activities. 
• Manage regulatory reporting requirements and maintain required records. 
• Support emergency preparedness, safety committees, and employee safety engagement programs. 
• Track and report HSE performance indicators including TRIR, DART, near-miss reporting, and environmental compliance metrics. 

Continuous Improvement & Special Projects 

• Lead cross-functional quality and safety improvement projects focused on reducing risk, waste, defects, and injuries. 
• Facilitate root cause analysis activities utilizing methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Pareto Analysis, and FMEA. 
• Manage strategic initiatives related to process standardization, error-proofing, visual management, and operational excellence. 
• Develop project charters, implementation plans, and progress reporting for major QHSE initiatives. 
• Support deployment of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and operational excellence programs. 
• Analyze quality, safety, and operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities. 
• Lead system harmonization efforts during acquisitions, organizational changes, and business growth initiatives. 

Training & Leadership 

• Develop and deliver QMS and HSE training programs. 
• Provide technical guidance to site leadership, quality personnel, HSE coordinators, and operational teams. 
• Coach employees on problem-solving methodologies, audit readiness, and management system requirements. 
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and workplace safety.

Qualifications 

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Safety, Manufacturing, or related field. 
• 5+ years of experience managing Quality and/or HSE systems in a manufacturing environment. 
• Experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, or equivalent management systems. 
• Experience leading audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
• Multi-site experience preferred. 
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) 
• ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) 
• Certified Lead Auditor (ISO 9001/IATF 16949/ISO 14001) 
• OSHA Certification 
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt

• Strong understanding of quality and safety management systems. 
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies. 
• Expertise in root cause analysis and corrective action management. 
• Excellent organizational and project management skills. 
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities. 
• Effective leadership, communication, and facilitation skills. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, reporting tools, and management system software. 
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
