Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a leading clean energy organization in South Windsor, CT, focused on developing innovative fuel cell and electrolyzer solutions for the rapidly growing data center market. This individual will be responsible for designing, integrating, and optimizing fuel cell power systems within microgrid environments to deliver reliable, scalable, and sustainable energy solutions. The Senior Electrical Engineer will leverage a strong background in power electronics, including inverters, converters, controllers, and power distribution systems, to support both grid-connected and islanded operations. Key responsibilities include defining and maintaining product requirements, applying first-principles engineering methodologies, conducting system-level trade studies, and performing DFMEA/PFMEA risk assessments. The engineer will create and update one-line and three-line electrical schematics, electrical harness designs, operating sequences, and product operation manuals while supporting design verification and validation testing. This role will also be responsible for troubleshooting complex design challenges, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to improve system performance and reliability. Working closely with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams, the engineer will develop site-specific microgrid architectures integrating fuel cells, battery energy storage, renewable energy sources, and conventional generation assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of microgrid operation, energy management systems, and power distribution requirements within mission-critical data center environments. Additional responsibilities include creating and presenting technical design reviews and executive-level presentations to management throughout the product development lifecycle. The Senior Electrical Engineer will ensure all systems meet applicable regulatory, safety, and industry standards while providing ongoing technical support and performance optimization for deployed solutions.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in Electrical Design, Electrical controls, & Power.
• Knowledge of power systems
• LV, MV and AC/ DC voltage system design
• Arc Flash - High Power cable arcing calculation for safe distance
• Professional certifications related to renewable energy, microgrid systems, or energy management (e.g. IEEE) are a plus.
• Understanding of internal data center needs is a plus.
• Fuel Cell / Electrolyzer background a plus
• Experience with integrating renewable energy sources (e.g., solar, wind) and energy storage systems into microgrid solutions.
• Hands-on experience with self-generation technology (generators) integration and real-time optimization in mission-critical environments like data centers.
