Job Description

The primary purpose of the School Nurse Teacher is to provide skilled nursing care to students on a daily basis and to teach health education. Responsibilities include conducting school health services, providing first aid for students and staff, providing other medical care of students as needed, identifying and meeting the needs of students with special health care needs in collaboration with parent/guardian and health care provider, administering and maintaining medications, maintaining student health records, reviewing physical and immunization records to ensure compliance, providing individual health education to students and families, communicating with families regarding students' health care needs, providing health education resources and education to staff, collaborating with staff around individual students' needs, facilitating dental, hearing, vision, and scoliosis screenings for students and following up with families regarding findings, assisting families in connecting to community health resources, maintaining the health office in a safe and hygienic manner, providing health related supplies for classrooms and field trips, planning and implementing health instruction for students as directed, monitoring safety and communicable disease in the school setting, advising school administration on health matters as requested, conferring with Charter School Physician as needed, attending staff and professional meetings as directed, complying with federal and state regulations for school health services, and instructing students in classroom health education.

Job Requirements

• RI School Nurse Teacher Certification Fluency in Spanish and English, both spoken and written, preferred. Commitment to educational equity and experience working with diverse student populations, particularly students of color, multilingual learners, and students with diverse learning needs. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff. Passion for fostering student development through creative learning opportunities.
• At least 5 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• Bachelor degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
