Are you passionate about empowering young adults and creating meaningful career pathways? At Queens Community House (QCH), we're more than just a settlement house, we are a place where transformation happens every day. We're looking for a Job Placement Specialist who will join our Community Resources for Employment and Development (CRED) team to support young adults aged 18-40 in achieving their personal and career goals.
If you're ready to help shape futures, connect people to employers, and make an impact, we want you to be part of our dynamic team!
About the Role:
The CRED Job Placement Specialist supports out-of-school, unemployed, and underemployed young adults ages 18–40 by connecting them to meaningful career opportunities. This role is responsible for placing participants in structured 10-week internships after a 14-week training session and providing ongoing support to help them secure permanent employment.
The Job Placement Specialist builds and maintains strong relationships with both participants and community stakeholders, including local employers, to ensure successful internship placements and long-term job outcomes.
At least 75% of program participants must reside in zip codes disproportionately impacted by high rates of gun violence. The CRED initiative approaches gun violence as a public health crisis, combining short-term workforce opportunities with long-term community-based prevention strategies. A central component of this prevention effort is increasing access to career pathways and employment readiness for disconnected young adults.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participant Intake & Assessment: Conduct comprehensive intake meetings to assess eligibility, career interests, skills, and employment barriers. Gather required documentation (e.g., identification, work authorization, resumes, certifications) and ensure participant files remain accurate and complete.
- Individual Career Planning & Relationship Building: Build strong, supportive relationships with participants by taking time to understand their goals, strengths, and challenges. Develop customized job search and career development plans tailored to each participant's needs.
- Participant Career Readiness: Facilitate engaging workshops on resume development, interview skills, workplace professionalism, and job retention strategies to prepare participants for successful employment.
- Employer Engagement & Partnership Development: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local businesses and industry partners, particularly in culinary and technology sectors, to secure internships, employment opportunities, and mentorship pathways.
- Internship & Event Coordination: Coordinate structured 10-week internship placements and organize job fairs and networking events to expand access to meaningful career opportunities.
- Alumni & Retention Support: Provide follow-up services, career counseling, and ongoing employer communication to promote job retention and long-term career advancement.
Key Industries: Culinary and Technology
Qualifications
Required:
- 1–3 years of job development experience with young adults (ages 18-40)
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools like Salesforce

- Bachelor's Degree (Human Resources, Social Work, Business, Marketing preferred)
- Bilingual skills
- Experience in employer engagement and job development

At QCH, we value our team members and offer a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and the opportunity for personal and professional growth.
Benefits include:
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
- Life Insurance and FSA
- Paid Family Leave
