Job Description
Registered Nurse - Inpatient Psychiatry Unit

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position.

Scheduled details include:

• 2 eight-hour shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
• 2 twelve-hour shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM
• 40 hours a week, holidays and every other weekend expected.
• Requests for scheduled weekends off require prior coverage agreement.

Job Description

Join our acute inpatient psychiatry unit, comprising 25 beds. Our dedicated staff provides high-quality care to patients facing acute psychiatric conditions, including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, suicidal, and homicidal ideations.

RN responsibilities include:

• Charge nurse duties and overseeing all admissions for shifts
• Medication administration for patients during the assigned shifts
• Working closely with Mental Health Assistants (MHAs) to ensure comprehensive patient care
• Conducting rounds, taking vitals, passing out trays, and facilitating patient care and group activities

Responsibilities

• Manage patient assignments with a focus on de-escalation and support
• Maintain a patient-to-staff ratio up to 5:1
• Collaborate with security staff during crisis situations, when necessary
• Training on all 3 nursing positions within the unit to ensure flexible staffing

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license in the state of practice
• BLS certification required
• Knowledge of restraint and de-escalation techniques
• Completion of required Centralus skills and competency exams
