Travel Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurses (RNs) for an 8-week contract assignment working night shifts in a locked behavioral health setting. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses with behavioral health experience who are passionate about providing compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care.

As a Psychiatric RN, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients experiencing acute psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders, psychosis, and substance use disorders. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patient safety, stabilization, and recovery.

Responsibilities include:

• Deliver direct patient care in a locked behavioral health unit.
• Monitor and assess patients' mental and physical status.
• Implement suicide prevention and patient safety protocols.
• Administer medications and evaluate patient responses.
• Support therapeutic interventions and treatment plans.
• Document patient care accurately using the Orchid charting system.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient outcomes.

• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Contract Length: 8 weeks
• Start Date: October 16, 2026
• Charting System: Orchid
• Interview Process: Phone screening required

Qualifications:

• Active RN license in good standing
• Previous psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience preferred
• Strong assessment, communication, and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment
• Current BLS certification (if required by facility)

Minimum Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse Licensure in-state practicing
• One year of psych experience preferred
• PMH-BC certification preferred
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
