Program: SBCS's Achievement Center provides a spectrum of center-based support services to help youth on probation remain in compliance with court orders, avoid re-offending, and to reach their full potential. The program also provides youth with opportunities for pro-social activities, games and free time, educational groups, restorative circles, music engineering & production, and career & job readiness & education. Youth on formal probation are referred by their Probation Officer to attend the Achievement Center (AC) from 20 to 45 program days. This allows them an opportunity to remain in the community while being involved in a continuum of pro-social support and programs. Community youth, not on Probation, can also be referred to attend the Achievement. RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Youth and Family Development Associate under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and Program Director is responsible for providing services to SBCS' youth on probation and the Community who may be at-risk for future or continued involvement in the juvenile justice system. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission and style and provided within a team framework. Associates are responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives. Due to the nature of the workflow and client needs, the Direct Care Staff maintains a flexible schedule. He/she is directly accountable to the Program Manager.

DUTIES:
- Provide case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, and other services related to the program's goals and objectives.
- Develop assessment-based individual case plans involving youth and family.
- Participate in day-to-day activities of the youth at the Achievement Center to create a trauma-informed, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Develop authentic relationships with youth and support successful completion of case plan.
- Coordinate family supports and services, refer and connect youth and family to public and private services and resources.
- serve as a positive role model following Achievement Center guidelines for professional dress and behavior.
- Adhere to confidentiality and HIPPA regulations.
- Complete programmatic, data entry, quality assurance, client case records and billing reports on a variety of software programs and required databases as requested and/or required.
- Participate in client intake and assessment interviews.
- Develop and maintain helping relationships with parents or guardians emphasizing client accountability.
- Provide client advocacy in the areas of justice, health, education, vocation and family intervention.
- Create and lead pro-social and work development activities for individual as well as groups of clients.
- Communicates with Probation, the Court, and other service entities to support successful program completion.
- Transport clients to and from the center, as well as program activities.
- Attend all agency required meetings and training.
- As other duties assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, social work, or closely related field.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
- Experience working with vulnerable and at-risk youth and families, required. Experience should preferably have been in a community based or neighborhood service organization.
- Experience in the areas of individual, group, and family counseling, outreach, community education and development, advocacy and case management.
- Effective communication and listening skills to interact with youth and team members.
- Maintains confidentiality and privacy standards of program participants in accordance with agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws, including HIPAA.
- Must possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, including Outlook, Word, and Excel to develop, update, maintain and manage spreadsheets and data reports.
- Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
- Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), Probation Clearances, Community Care Licensing Clearances, Child Abuse Central Index Check (CACI), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, physical exam, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, Immunizations (TDAP, MMR, Influenza) and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
- Candidates/employees who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for controlled substances, (including THC and CBD), in accordance with the County of San Diego's drug and alcohol policy and the federal Controlled Substances Act.
- Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver's license and valid auto insurance policy.
- Mentally and emotionally: Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.
- Moves throughout the building.
- Moves, raises, or lowers (includes upward pulling) an object or equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Transports an object, from 20 to 50 lbs. across the facility, for various needs.
- Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force.
- Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
- Ascending or descending stairs and ladders when applicable. Body agility is emphasized.
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when ascending, descending, traversing.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with objects or office machinery.
- Communicating: Expressing or exchanging ideas. Communicating is important for those activities in which workers must impart information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, or quickly.
