Associate Chief Medical Officer - Primary Care

Position SummaryThe Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) of Primary Care serves as a key physician leader supporting the delivery, quality, growth, and performance of primary care services in the South Market. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer of Primary Care, the ACMO works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leaders, operational leaders, and community partners to advance high-quality, patient-centered care. The ACMO helps implement system-wide primary care strategies, supports provider engagement, and promotes clinical excellence, quality, safety, access, and operational performance across primary care practices. The ACMO demonstrates the organization's mission, vision, and values through leadership, collaboration, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the CMO on physician compensation and benefits.Oversee Physician Leads in their area, holding them accountable for Primary Care mission and goals.Participate in the hiring and termination of providers by working with Physician Leads on site needs and concerns.Complete evaluations of Physician Leads and ensure completion of OPPEs and FPPEs.Approve FTE changes, PDAs, and provider reimbursement requests.Approve carryover vacation time and assist Physician Leads in calculating proration and time-off needs for providers.Support quality and patient safety initiatives across primary care practices.Monitor performance metrics and partner with leaders to improve clinical outcomes.Promote evidence-based care, standard clinical protocols, and best practices.Partner with physicians and advanced practice providers to improve professional satisfaction and engagement.Support recruitment, retention, mentorship, and leadership development efforts.Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture across care teams.Help improve patient access to primary care services.Support initiatives that enhance patient experience and care coordination.Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce barriers to care.Partner with operational leaders to achieve performance goals related to growth, productivity, quality, and patient access.Monitor clinical productivity and support practice optimization efforts.Promote responsible stewardship of clinical and financial resources.Assist in implementing primary care growth strategies within the Jackson market.Collaborate with specialty, hospital, and health plan leaders to strengthen care delivery across the continuum.Represent primary care in local committees, community partnerships, and organizational initiatives as appropriate.Champion an inclusive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.Maintain knowledge of applicable regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.Ensure adherence to policies, professional standards, and ethical practices.RequiredMD or DO degree.Completion of residency training in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Michigan.Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience in Primary Care.Demonstrated physician leadership experience in a medical group, hospital, or integrated healthcare setting.PreferredPrevious experience leading quality, operational, or provider engagement initiatives.Experience working within an integrated health system.Additional InformationOrganization: Henry Ford Medical GroupDepartment: Internal Medicine-WoodhavenShift: Day JobUnion Code: Not Applicable
