Maintenance Mechanic

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair facility equipment, building systems, and production machinery to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operations. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and performing carpentry and general maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate is a handson Maintenance Technician with strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with power tools, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment, production machinery, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems; implement effective repairs and adjustments.
• Perform carpentry and general maintenance tasks such as door/window repairs, framing, and finish work.
• Safely operate and maintain hand and power tools, shop equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns in a timely manner, including offshift or oncall duties when required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and parts inventory using a CMMS or manual systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow all safety, lockout/tagout, and regulatory compliance procedures; participate in safety meetings and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical training or an associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of handson experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing, facilities, or industrial setting.
• Strong mechanical skills with experience in troubleshooting, bearings, motors, belts, chains, pumps, and conveyors.
• Proven carpentry skills and experience performing building repairs and finish carpentry.
• Basic electrical knowledge including wiring, circuits, controls, and ability to perform safe electrical repairs (EPA, electrician license preferred where applicable).
• Comfortable using a wide range of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and measuring instruments.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
• Ability to read basic mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, or kneeling; valid drivers license and willingness to work flexible hours or oncall shifts.
