Employment Specialist

JVS is seeking a full-timeEmploymentSpecialistto join ourCareer Service Department.Under the direct supervision of theDirector of Career Services, this position is responsibleforassisting individuals who have disabilities in all aspects of obtaining and maintaining employment including developing resumes, connecting with employers, assisting with the interview process, providing on site coaching to help individuals learn needed job tasks and then tomaintain these jobs.Additionaltasks include running in-house and virtual groupsfor job seekers,maintainingaccuraterecords and being able towritedetailedreportsdocumenting activities.This is agrant fundedposition. What we are looking for: Experience working with individuals who have disabilities providingemploymentservices.Strong verbal,writtenand computer skillsarerequired.All offers are contingent on a successful background check. Essential Functions Develops andmaintainscontacts with area employers toassistprogram participants in finding suitable employment based on their interests and abilities. Provides training,supervision,and support toprogram participantsat JVS and at jobsites. Provides pre-employment services such as job seeking skills training, jobdevelopmentand job referral. Assistsparticipantswithjob applicationsandthroughout the jobinterview process. Provides education and information for employers on the benefits of including qualified people with disabilities in their workforce. Raise awareness about the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities. Performscommunity-basedassessments at job sites. Developsappropriate techniquessuch as task analysis to helpindividualsaddress difficult behaviors in consultation with JVS Case Managers. Acts in liaison with employer to ensure job retentionand provides long term follow-along supportatjobsitesso employment is stabilized. Maintainson-goingcommunication with NJDVRS Counselors(asappropriate)regardingindividual’sprogress and status. Maintains records of servicesprovidedthroughJVSonline case management systemno later than5 daysafterservice provision. Assistswith transportation needs andarranges fortravel training whenappropriate. Participates in preparations for CARF accreditation as needed. Performs other duties consistent with program needs and not calling for materially different skills. Preferred Qualifications& Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, or related fielddegree. Experience in providing direct services to individuals with disabilities.Strongverbal,writingand computer skills. Classification and schedule: Thisisa full-time, non-exempt position which requires a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the business. Travel Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation as this isrequiredfor this position. Salary The salary range for this position is $42,000- 48,000including benefits.
