**Job Posting Title:**Education Specialist**----****Hiring Department:**Marine Science Institute**----****Position Open To:**All Applicants**----****Weekly Scheduled Hours:**19**----****FLSA Status:**Non-Exempt from FLSA**----****Earliest Start Date:**Immediately**----****Position Duration:**Expected to Continue Until Mar 30, 2027**----****Location:**CORPUS CHRISTI-VICTORIA**----****Job Details:**## General NotesDescription:This person will join the Education team of the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute.This position is up to 19 hours a week and is a flexible schedule.We are looking for a bright, friendly person with education experience to join our team!Position duties require work in Rockport, TX.## Purpose:The purpose of this role is to assist or lead education programs, public Science-On-A-Sphere presentations and daily activities at the Bay Education Center in Rockport, Texas.## Responsibilities:• Direct and conduct Bay Education Center programs, Science on a Sphere, K-12 programs, community education, and help with other scheduled indoor or outdoor education programs, and exhibits, including staffing of part time staff and volunteers. • Responsible for publicity of the Bay Education Center, science, education, and community-involvement programs of the Bay Education Center through various avenues, including presentations, Bay Talk series, social media, brochures, etc. • Oversee Bay Education Center budgets and purchases, provide annual reports if needed and other reporting and presentations. • Create new public program content for Science on a Sphere for all learners. • Oversee daily supervision and work direction for BEC part time staff and volunteers including contributing to annual performance evaluations and managing work schedules and annual leave. Support volunteer recruitment efforts, such as orientation and appreciation events as needed. • Assist with other UTMSI/Reserve programs and projects, as assigned, such as EDBD, TOTE Workshops, Monarch Madness, etc. • Draft and monitor Rockport Hotel Occupancy Tax quarterly reports and annual renewal request. • Other related functions as assigned.## Required Qualifications:• High School Diploma • Education experience in a classroom or nature center setting. • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.## Preferred Qualifications• Four-year degree in environmental science, education, or equivalent.## Salary Range• $16.11/ hour up to 19 hours per week## Working ConditionsThe physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. May be requested to work during special program events.## Work Shift• 19-hour work shift spread throughout a Tuesday – Saturday work week from 10am – 4pm. A six-hour work shift is required on Friday and Saturday, with the rest of the 19 hours used during the workweek.
