Electronics Technician – Testing, Repair & Calibration

 

$25–$32/hour | Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Colorado Springs/Peyton Area

 

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Electronics Technician to support the testing, repair, calibration, and manufacturing of high-precision seismograph sensors and electronic instrumentation.

 

This is a hands-on position primarily involving bench testing, troubleshooting, soldering, assembly, and calibration of electronic equipment. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with electronics, solving problems, and taking pride in careful, high-quality work.

Candidates may range from someone early in their technical career to an experienced electronics technician. A four-year engineering degree is not required. Relevant technical education, military electronics experience, electronics repair experience, or demonstrated hands-on ability will all be considered.

 

Key Responsibilities

Electronic Testing, Troubleshooting & Repair

• Test, troubleshoot, and repair sensors, electronic instruments, and circuit boards.
• Diagnose problems at the component, circuit-board, and sensor level.
• Replace or repair defective components and verify proper operation after repairs.
• Perform functional testing and verify equipment performance

Calibration

• Perform electrical and mechanical testing against established specifications.
• Operate laboratory test equipment and calibration systems.
• Record measurements accurately and maintain calibration and test records.

Soldering & Manufacturing

• Perform precision through-hole and surface-mount soldering for repairs, modifications, and new equipment.
• Manufacture, assemble, and modify electronic components, sensor assemblies, and complete electronic instruments.
• Inspect assemblies for workmanship and proper operation.

Documentation & Quality

• Maintain clear and accurate records of testing, repairs, calibration results, and equipment history.
• Document failures, troubleshooting findings, and corrective actions.
• Follow established procedures while identifying opportunities to improve testing, repair, and manufacturing processes.

 

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for hands-on skill, attention to detail, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

 

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience working with electronic circuits, boards, sensors, or instrumentation.
• Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, or similar test equipment.
• Soldering experience, including component-level electronic repair.
• Ability to read basic schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Basic understanding of voltage, current, resistance, AC/DC signals, and electronic components.
• Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to accurately document work and follow technical procedures.
• Ability to work independently after training.

 

Technical school, associate degree, military electronics training, professional electronics experience, or equivalent hands-on experience is beneficial but not required for the right candidate. Full training can be provided for the right candidate. We are more interested in mechanical/electronic aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn than in experience with our specific equipment.
