Engineer, LNG/LPG Compliance

Role and Scope of Position The Engineer, LNG/LPG Compliance has multi-state responsibilities to support the development and implementation of compliance programs and activities for all Eversource LNG facilities in Massachusetts and Connecticut. This role supports the LNG/LPG Compliance Supervisor in owning and maintaining regulatory compliance programs, ensuring strategies, procedures, and assurance processes are in place to address compliance activities and requirements—including Eversource, local, and federal requirements. The position assists with implementing process improvements, tailoring plans to current or adopted codes used by regulatory agencies to evaluate LNG/LPG facilities, and understands the regulatory aspects of the facilities regarding security, safety, training, maintenance and operations in accordance with 49 CFR Parts 192 & 193. Essential Functions Coordinate the collection of compliance documents from LNG Plant Supervisors and other stakeholders to meet regulatory filing requirements and information requests from the Department of Public Utilities (DPU), Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA), and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Review and update information, ensuring appropriate parties review it in a timely manner. Perform internal compliance assurance activities at LNG facilities in preparation for federal and state audits. Review policies and procedures to ensure standardization across the various plants. Research, analyze, and recommend ways to improve compliance processes and procedures. Review activities at LNG/LPG facilities to assess compliance with existing and proposed federal, state, or industry legislation and regulations. Review external state and federal agency audit findings and provide recommendations to internal procedures and/or compliance manuals. Periodically review processes and policy documents related to compliance with federal and state pipeline safety regulations and report findings. Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk and report findings to the Supervisor and other stakeholders. Inspect and audit programs, policies, and work practices for compliance with company requirements, best practices, and relevant laws and regulations. Provide summary reports of findings and recommend corrective actions whenever deficiencies are identified. Assist with communicating and implementing improvements to programs and documentation to ensure compliance with regulations. Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements, company procedures and documents to satisfy those requirements. Cooperate with LNG/LPG operations personnel, engineering, and other stakeholders to share lessons learned and knowledge to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Technical Knowledge, Skill, Education, Licenses, Certifications Ability to establish a culture of safety, reliability, efficiency, and compliance. Ability to interface and effectively communicate with various groups, including operations staff, maintenance staff, engineering departments, human resources, federal, state, and local regulators, external stakeholders, and other corporate groups. Ability to write, implement, and maintain procedures. Ability to interface with regulatory agencies, coordinate regulatory inspections, and coordinate follow-up as required. Some project management skills with the ability to influence others is desirable. Ability to interpret and address new and/or changing regulations. Ability to multi-task and function in a highly dynamic environment. Must act with purpose and a sense of urgency. Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related experience is required. Engineering design experience preferred. Working Conditions Must be available for emergency restoration assignments as required. Must be available to travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire as necessary. Position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required. This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for drug testing purposes. Successful applicants will undergo a pre-assignment drug test if currently in a non-safety-sensitive position and will be subject to random drug testing throughout employment. Salary is commensurate with your experience and is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range for this position is $100,490.00 – $111,660.00.
