Associate Attorney

Role Description The Associate Attorney will support client engagements focused on law firms and professional-services organizations, working closely with FirmIQ leadership to deliver practical, execution-focused legal and strategic guidance. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, and compliance documents, and assisting with risk assessments related to operations, HR, marketing, AI tools, and financial systems. The role will involve collaborating with clients to clarify issues, structure engagements, and support governance and decision-making frameworks, including policies that align with regulatory and ethical standards. The Associate Attorney will help translate legal requirements into workable processes, contribute to thought leadership content, and participate in client meetings and workshops. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the San Diego Metropolitan Area. Qualifications Licensed attorney (JD required) with strong legal research, writing, and contract drafting skills relevant to professional-services and law firm environments. Experience or coursework in business law, compliance, risk management, employment/HR issues, or professional ethics, preferably within law firms or advisory settings. Ability to analyze complex operational and governance structures, and translate legal requirements into clear policies, procedures, and client-facing guidance. Comfort working with technology, including AI-enabled tools, document management systems, and basic familiarity with data privacy and information security considerations. Strong interpersonal, communication, and client-service skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and present legal concepts in accessible language. Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Interest in law firm management, professional-services operations, or strategic advisory work; prior experience with boutique or growing law firms is a plus.
