Certified Coding Specialist

To support a growing healthcare practice, the full-time Certified Coding Specialist will review medical documentation, assign appropriate codes (ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT), and ensure compliance with coding standards while working remotely. Key responsibilities Review and audit medical records to accurately reflect healthcare coding and substantiate appropriate service reimbursement Convey coding guidelines to healthcare providers to improve the accuracy of medical record documentation Monitor and validate physician charge capture and participate in coding team meetings as a subject matter expert Required qualifications Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Certification in Coding required Specific knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology, ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding schemes preferred Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required Successful coursework from an accredited institution in medical terminology or human anatomy/physiology is preferred If not certified at hire, must obtain certification within one year of the date of hire
