Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Orthopedic Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred. Previous travel experience preferred. License: Valid state or compact nursing license required. Certifications: BLS certification required. ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred. Must-Have: Ortho trauma and total joint replacement experience required. Experience with charting using Epic system is required. Description: We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in orthopedic nursing. The position involves working with ortho trauma and total joint replacement cases. The nurse will provide care to patients on a medical-surgical unit. Patient ratios are maintained at 1:6 throughout the shifts. The nurse will be responsible for accessing and managing ports, as well as administering blood products. Experience with central line blood draws, chest tube management, and colostomy care is essential. The role requires proficiency in high flow nasal cannula and insulin management. Interpretation of arterial blood gases and understanding of isolation precautions is necessary. Nursing duties may include telemetry monitoring and managing surgical drains. Basic care for patients with spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries is expected. Tracheostomy care and wound care skills are important for this position. Candidates must be eligible to float to other units if required. Weekend shifts will be included in the scheduling. Interdisciplinary team support is available, including physical therapy and respiratory services. This role is crucial in providing high-quality patient care for diverse age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
