Job Title: CAD Designer

Location: Katy, Texas 77494
Duration: 12 months (possible extension)



Payrate: $34 - $36/hr on W2



Work Location: Onsite



Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM



Work Environment: Manufacturing Plant

Required Qualifications

• Entry-level position.
• Working knowledge and experience with Autodesk Inventor .
• Basic CAD drafting and design experience.
• Ability to create and modify engineering drawings and CAD models.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and accept coaching.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD .
• Experience performing tolerance studies/analysis .
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) .
• Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 drafting standards .
• Training, coursework, certification, technical degree, or documented experience in CAD design or drafting.
• Experience using precision measuring tools, including:
  • Calipers
  • Micrometers

Key Responsibilities

• Create and modify CAD models and engineering drawings.
• Prepare and maintain engineering and sustaining project design layouts, production drawings, and related documentation.
• Support engineering and manufacturing teams with drafting and design activities.
• Assist with tolerance analysis and drawing updates.
• Prepare mechanical layouts of average complexity using CAD systems.
• Depending on experience level, prepare and maintain mechanical, electrical, and electronic product and production drawings.
• Ensure accuracy of assigned drafting and design work.
• Follow company drafting standards, procedures, and design processes.
• Maintain project status reports for assigned projects.
• Support projects from concept through manufacturing and implementation.

Mold & Tooling Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain mold drawings for tooling work orders.
• Create and revise mold component Bills of Materials (BOMs) for mold and fixture designs.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and R&D to improve and standardize existing and future mold designs.
• Provide hands-on support when needed with:
  • Mold assembly and disassembly
  • Inspection and measuring
  • Reverse engineering
  • Creating CAD models and drawings
• Troubleshoot tooling, equipment, and process problems.
• Assist in developing manufacturing methods that improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Ensure timely completion of assigned drafting projects.
• Perform other duties and activities as assigned within the physical requirements of the position.

Technical Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and drafting standards.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and how design and tolerances affect parts and assemblies.
• Familiarity with ANSI/company drafting standards and procedures.
• Ability to work with engineers, designers, production personnel, and manufacturing teams.
