Prin Manufacturing Engineer

Medtronic seeks a Principal Manufacturing Engineer in Villalba, Puerto Rico to lead laser-based manufacturing process development, validation, and optimization in a regulated medical device environment. The role provides technical leadership on laser welding, cutting, marking, and precision applications while driving continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, validation, optimization, and sustainment of laser manufacturing processes and equipment
• Drive implementation of laser technologies including welding, cutting, marking, and precision laser applications
• Develop manufacturing process controls using Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, and data-driven methodologies
• Lead equipment qualification, process validation, technology transfer, and continuous improvement projects
• Partner with Research & Development, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain on scalable, compliant manufacturing solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years manufacturing engineering experience, or Master's with 5+ years, or PhD with 3+ years
• Hands-on experience with laser-based manufacturing technologies in regulated settings
• Expertise in process validation, equipment qualification, and Statistical Process Control
• Track record leading cross-functional engineering projects and process improvement initiatives
• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes and implement corrective actions
• Preferred: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Biomedical Engineering, or Physics degree
• Preferred: Experience with laser welding, cutting, marking, ablation, or precision micromachining and medical device manufacturing
