Database Architect
EZOPS is seeking a highly motivated candidate to lead our design, performance and scaling of our database design and infrastructure. The opportunity exists for an experienced Database Architect to work with the CTO and global management team to help design and build an industry leading platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead research, architecture, design, and implementation of EZOPS persistent data storage & query infrastructure
- Company SME in Oracle and RDS
- Analyze internal and client database performance and tune based on analysis of AWR reports
- Consult with other members of the engineering teams on data and query design
- Drive database performance tuning, high availability, backups, and general optimization
- Lead internal documentation efforts, mentor other staff in various aspects of infrastructure design and services
- Lead incident response for database related issues, diagnosis and follow-up on system outages or alerts across internally managed and client systems
Requirements:
- Candidate is expected to be a strong team player and work effectively in cross-organization situations
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and relationship-building skills are required
- Ability to work independently and multi-task, taking ownership of tasks and using their initiative to produce high quality results
- Excellent verbal and written communications
- Experienced creating Internal and client facing project reporting
- Experience writing detailed requirements analysis
- Lead by setting the example
- Ability to work independently, as an effective part of a globally distributed team, including ticket tracking systems and asynchronous communication tools
- Experience supervising people remotely
Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of database storage concepts and working experience with storage systems, architectures and concepts
- Advanced level of experience with Oracle and RDS database administration and replication topologies at scale
- In-depth knowledge of SQL and optimization of queries
- Experience designing and developing relational databases at large scale
- 10+ years experience in an DBA/Architect role as part of a team
- Experience working in a geographically distributed, highly available, high traffic infrastructure based on Oracle
- 8+ years experience with core Oracle technologies to include rack, portioning, deploying on prem and AWS
- 3+ years product company experience
- Expertise within the financial services industry
- Bachelor's degree required
Optional Qualifications:
- Experience with Big Data technologies a big plus
- Experience with Google Cloud
- Experience managing client support
- Experience writing user documentation
