About This Job Under the direction of teachers and school leaders, the assistant supports students in core subject areas such as math, reading, writing, science, and social studies, as well as in students’ native languages. The assistant remains aware of student problems, progress, and achievements, reporting to the supervising teacher. Responsibilities include preparing the classroom, managing student behavior, and reporting difficulties as appropriate. Students will work during non‑scheduled class times at campus District elementary, middle school, or early childhood learning center. Current District students who meet eligibility as a teaching assistant must keep information confidential and work under the direction of teachers and school leaders. The purpose of this role is to give students experience in education and to support students where they need extra help. Click here for more information on compensation for these roles. What You’ll Do Help prepare the classroom as directed for lessons, clear it afterward, and assist with displaying students’ work. Support supervising teacher(s) in helping students understand instructions and curriculum, preparing and maintaining equipment/resources, and assisting students in using them. Support the school by complying with policies and procedures related to child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection; report all concerns to an appropriate person; maintain knowledge of support differences and ensure all students have equal access to learning and development opportunities; and contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the school. Under the direction of teacher(s), set strong and measurable individual goals and deliver expected results, demonstrating accountability to plans and milestones; solve problems effectively and escalates appropriately. Contribute to meaningful conversations around equity and barriers to success for all students. Undertake basic student record keeping and other duties as requested.
