Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical CAD Specialist to join our team! The ideal candidate would be employed to working closely with our design teams, engineers and customers. Using company-provided scanning equipment, cameras, and other measurement tools, the specialist will capture site conditions, photograph equipment, collect measurements, and convert the information into accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings.

These drawings will be used for facility layout planning, equipment placement, renovation projects, machinery upgrades, and the installation of new industrial laundry equipment.

This is a hands-on position combining fieldwork, technical documentation, and computer-aided design. The ideal candidate enjoys traveling, working in industrial environments, and turning real-world site information into precise, useful CAD drawings.

The ideal candidate should have experience with AutoCAD or engineering, excellent communication skills, and works well within a team environment.

Responsibilities 

• Travel to industrial laundry plants and commercial laundry facilities throughout North America.
• Use company-provided scanning equipment, cameras, and measurement tools to document existing facility conditions.
• Scan, photograph, measure, and document industrial laundry machinery, equipment, building features, and surrounding spaces.
• Capture equipment dimensions, clearances, access points, utility connections, and other relevant details needed for planning purposes.
• Convert field scans, photographs, measurements, and reference materials into accurate 2D floor plans, equipment layouts, elevations, and 3D CAD models.
• Develop detailed facility layouts showing existing equipment and proposed equipment placement.
• Prepare drawings to support equipment installation planning, facility modifications, machinery replacement, and plant optimization.
• Identify and document potential space constraints, access limitations, equipment clearances, and layout conflicts.
• Organize and maintain CAD files, photographs, scans, measurements, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with internal project managers, sales personnel, engineers, customers, and equipment manufacturers to confirm drawing requirements.
• Review drawings for dimensional accuracy, completeness, and consistency with site conditions.
• Manage field assignments and deliver completed drawings within established project deadlines.
• Follow applicable site safety requirements and customer facility procedures.
• Follow all company guidelines for best practices
• Track all time spent on projects accurately

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in mechanical CAD drafting, 2D drafting, 3D modeling, or facility layout design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or other relevant CAD software, such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Experience preparing dimensioned floor plans, equipment layouts, and technical drawings.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, dimensions, and technical specifications.
• Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to accurately document existing physical conditions and translate field information into CAD drawings.
• Comfortable using computers, digital cameras, scanning equipment, and measurement tools.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating with a remote project team.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout North America.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable travel requirements.

Travel and Working Conditions

• Frequent travel to customer facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
• Occasional overnight and multi-day business trips.
• Work performed both on-site at industrial facilities and remotely in a CAD environment.
• Use of company-provided scanning equipment, cameras, computers, and other required tools.
• Ability to work safely in industrial environments and comply with customer site requirements
