EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE TECH

LOCATION: Hunt Valley, MD

PAY RATE: $31.05 PER HOUR

SCHEDULE

Second Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Training Schedule: Candidate must be able to work first shift for approximately 3 months during the training period.

Training Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Onboarding: 1 week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Attendance is required.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for both machine operation and equipment maintenance within the AutoPak area. The position performs equipment setup, operation, routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of highly automated manufacturing equipment.

The position requires strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

JOB DUTIES

• Perform routine setup, operation, minor and major maintenance, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex automated manufacturing equipment.
• Control and adjust machine settings for AutoPak equipment.
• Perform mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance, repairs, adjustments, inspections, and monitoring of production and facility-related equipment.
• Support production, quality, downtime, and waste objectives.
• Operate a variety of production equipment and automated machine processes used for filling, packing, assembling, labeling, and inspection.
• Independently operate multiple production lines and perform equipment changeovers.
• Provide operator and maintenance support throughout the assigned operation as needed.
• Perform cleanup functions in sterilized areas when required.
• Read and evaluate charts, diagrams, testing procedures, and inspection requirements.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for process and product exceptions.
• Monitor quality using statistical process control and other established procedures.
• Accurately complete quality, safety, and maintenance documentation.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex equipment performance and product quality issues.
• Work with external contractors and vendors as needed.
• Follow established procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Follow all housekeeping and safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certificate and 2 years of relevant experience OR 4 years of relevant experience required.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment and machinery.
• Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment specifications.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Electrical aptitude.
• Hydraulics and pneumatics knowledge.
• Ability to use a multimeter.
• Sensor technology knowledge.
• Basic plumbing skills involving fluid and pneumatic systems.
• Understanding of power transmission systems, including gearboxes, motors, belt drives, and chain drives.
• Basic machining skills.
• Electrical troubleshooting from low-level signals through 480 VAC.
• Understanding of trades mathematics.
• Knowledge of calibration techniques and precision measuring instruments.
• Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to different equipment, processes, projects, and assignments.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Industrial control systems troubleshooting, including instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, VFDs, and servo systems.
• PLC operations.
• Robotics.
• Vision systems.
• Mechanical design using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar software.
• SAP maintenance module or equivalent computerized maintenance system.
• Welding.
• Basic use of mills, lathes, and bearing presses.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work overtime as required.
• Must be flexible and able to provide support across assigned operations.
• Must follow GMP requirements and all established safety and housekeeping procedures.
• Must be able to work with general supervision and exercise sound judgment when troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.
