Water/Wastewater Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from concept through completion. This role will oversee the planning, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning and close-out of water and wastewater schemes, including treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs and associated civil works. You will manage projects in line with agreed scope, programme, budget, quality, environmental and safety requirements, while maintaining a strong focus on technical excellence and client satisfaction.


Key responsibilities will include developing and managing project plans, budgets, risk registers, resource requirements and procurement strategies; coordinating multidisciplinary design and delivery teams; appointing and managing contractors, consultants and suppliers; monitoring progress and resolving technical, commercial and operational issues; and ensuring that changes are assessed, documented and controlled. You will lead project meetings, prepare clear reports for senior stakeholders, maintain accurate records and support contract administration, payment assessment and claims management. The role will also involve ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, health and safety procedures, environmental obligations and quality management systems.


Applicants should have proven project management experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering or related infrastructure sectors, with a track record of delivering projects safely, on time and within budget. A relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, construction management, water engineering or a related discipline is desirable, alongside experience with project controls, risk management, contractor oversight and stakeholder engagement. Strong commercial awareness, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills are essential. The successful candidate will be organised, decisive and collaborative, with the ability to manage competing priorities and build effective relationships across technical, operational, regulatory and community stakeholders. Professional accreditation or membership of a recognised engineering or project management body would be advantageous.
